The BEST Sugar Cookie

This is my favorite sugar cookie recipe of all time! It's simple and easy to make and there is no need to chill the dough before baking.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together flour and baking powder. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until smooth.
  4. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden. Let stand on the cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.
  7. What I love most about this recipe is that the dough DOES NOT have to be chilled for a few hours before you can begin to work with it. I use this recipe to make our Christmas sugar cookies every year. Enjoy!
