This is my favorite molasses cookie of all time. The orange rind gives it that extra surprise, yummy goodness. I use this recipe at Christmastime to make gingerbread men cookies. So easy and delicious!

Molasses Orange Cookie
This is my favorite molasses cookie of all time. The orange rind gives it that extra surprise, yummy goodness.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup Crisco shortening
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 tablespoon orange rind
- 2 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1 teaspoon cloves
- 1 teaspoon ginger
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350°. Cream together sugar, Crisco, egg, and molasses in a large bowl until well blended. Add orange rind.
- Stir together flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and ginger; gradually beat into molasses mixture.
- Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar; place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.
