Piper's Valentine Sugar Cookies
These adorable heart cut-out cookies will make your Valentine's Day all the sweeter.
Ingredients
Sugar Cookie
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
FaNtAsTiC Frosting
- 3/4 cup salted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 6 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons cream or milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until smooth.
- Beat in egg and vanilla.
- Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
- On a floured surface, roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut with a floured heart-shaped cookie cutter.
- On ungreased cookie sheets, place cutouts 2 inches apart, placing larger and smaller hearts on separate cookie sheets. Reroll dough, and cut additional cookies.
- Bake large hearts 8 to 10 minutes, small hearts 6 to 8 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool 5 minutes; remove from cookie sheets to cooling rack. Cool completely.
- Frost and decorate cookies.
FaNtAsTiC Frosting
- In a medium bowl combine the butter, sour cream, and vanilla.
- Mix until thick, smooth and creamy, 1-2 minutes.
- Add the powdered sugar and cream (or milk) and mix until well-combined and creamy, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. Add additional cream, if needed, to adjust the consistency of the frosting so it is thick but still soft and spreadable.
