Old-Fashioned Goulash

Before my mom left last week, she made the family her recipe for Goulash. The recipe uses simple ingredients and it makes a lot! I hope your family enjoys it as much as we did!

OLD FASHIONED GOULASH

Ingredients

  • 1 box of elbow macaroni
  • 1 1/2 pounds of ground beef, cooked and drained
  • 1 green bell peppers, diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 (28 oz) can of crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups of mild cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°.
  2. In a large pot, bring 6 cups of water to a boil and then cook the pasta.
  3. Brown the ground beef in a skillet.
  4. Add green peppers, onions, and seasoning. Stir.
  5. Add the crushed tomatoes. Let cook for about 5 minutes more.
  6. Pour into a 9 x 13" baking dish.
  7. Top with cheese (optional).
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted. If you are not adding cheese, you do not have to bake it.
